Carnavals
En Belgique, il ya beaucoup de carnivals: Stavelot carnaval, Carnaval de Binche, et Zinneke Parade. The Stavelot Carnaval, also known as the "Laetare des Blancs-Moussis", occurs every year on the fourth Sunday of Lent. During the carnival, roughly two hundred or so men dress in white cloaks, carrot noses, and masks (as seen in the bottom left image), and parade around the city throwing confetti and hitting bystanders with inflated big bladders. Unique, right? Another popular Belgium festival is the Binche Carnival or "Carnaval de Binche", which is an annual festival held in the streets of Binche, Belgium, on the Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday proceeding Ash Wednesday. On these days, men dressed in ostrich plume hats, masks, and orange clown-like outfits (center bottom image and top center image) parade the city handing out oranges to bystanders, along with playing special drums to ward off evil spirits.
